Biography

Graduate of the Institut Supérieur d'Art de La Havane in Cuba, Ricardo Martínez Ramos' work is part of a multidisciplinary practice, with sound as his principal material. His artistic praxis consists of creating landscape models, through which he explores the existence of something and the way in which the exchanges it establishes with other forms of existence give rise to the creation of a space. His work has been exhibited in such establishments as the Centre for the Development of Visual Arts (CDAV) in Havana, Cuba, the Wifredo Lam Centre for Contemporary Art in Havana, Cuba, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Pavilion of Habana in Havana, Cuba, the Galerie Cécilia F in Paris, France, the Centre Intermondes in La Rochelle, France, and the Plateforme Intermedia in Nantes, France. His awards include the First National Musicalia Composition Prize from the Institut Supérieur d'Art (ISA) in Havana, the Antonia Eiriz National Creation Grant awarded by the Hermanos Saiz National Association and the 21 Study Grant awarded by the Centre de Développement de l'Art Visuel (CDAV) in Havana, Cuba. He currently lives in Nantes, France, as an independent artist.
